EOYM 2009

Butibam, Lae, Morobe Province

Since the beginning, ETS has always conducted two‑week meetings and ministry programs at the same venue, which they usually vote on during the Kibung meeting. However, during the 2008 Kibung, ETS voted to conduct ministry in two locations. As a result, the 2009 EOYM became the first in ETS history to be held in two separate locations—one in the rural place and the other in a town vicinity.

The 2009 EOYM was held in a new area in Butibam, Lae, Morobe Province, as the town venue, and was supported and arranged by the Talair Church in Lae. The meeting was an eye‑opener for many, as it was a completely new territory—a strong Lutheran stronghold—yet ETS experienced a breakthrough. Three families openly confessed their desire to learn more about our blessed Lord Jesus Christ.

EOY ministry, Kibung site, conducted in Jan 2010

This was the second and rural site the ETS chose to conduct its ministry. It was an eye-opener for many who confessed never having heard a message preached in this manner before. Singing was so powerful and the church was packed to capacity, that the program had to be brought outside of the building into the open. Despite the heavy rains, people continued to attend faithfully. Mortimer Yangari, a new ETS member, was baptised at Teremanda.

The meeting was different from common stewardship meetings. The message was centred on the principal of giving—topic outlines not normally preached by pastors.
