Yalum, Mulitaka, Enga Province
After ETS’s first visit the previous year, pastors began visiting Yalum as well. ETS later returned after a strong request for revisitation from the villagers. During this visit, Steven’s father, a village leader wealthy in pigs and customary valuables was converted. ETS held workshops and provided advice on family matters and conflict resolution. The entire tribe also invited ETS to publicly answer several questions, which they did. Even respected Lutheran village leaders attended the canvas-shelter camp meetings, and more youths joined the singing choir. Today, Yalum has road access, and a strong branch church has also been established at Kil, another remote village.
