End Of Year Mministry - 1994
Pokoran, Black River, East Sepik Province.
The meeting was arranged by Paul Terry and a local church member (Timothy) of that place. Rungi Pingi, Paul Terry and Timothy (a local) led out in conducting the meeting. This was ETS’ second EOYM held and the first in East Sepik Province between the swampy regions of Sepik and Madang border. The village is only accessible by walking and canoes as there were waters and swamps separating the lands. The team took a trip from Wewak town up to Angoram and spent the night there. So early morning, the team took a boat ride down the big Sepik River for some 2-3 hours before meeting the black river meeting the Sepik. The team travelled upstream on the black river to get to the ministry site. After traveling for some 8 hours, when the big black river narrowed down to a small stream that the canoe could not move on further with the weight of the boys, that they got off. They walked for a further 3-4 hours before they arrived at the village for ministry.
ETS was amazed to see the Lord’s leading in bringing the entire village to attend the meetings. This ministry was where ETS saw the need to the start of workshops and seminars (first workshops held – youth, family and health). People came from more than 2 hours away to camp at the site and attend the meetings. The entire village, Adventists and non-Adventists Christians, attended both the evangelistic meeting and workshops. After the meeting, ETS took a different return journey crossing the border Jamong to the Madang province. They spent the night besides the Ramu river in Madang province. Took a boat ride down to stop at Nubia station. They caught on a PMV and headed to Madang town to catch a bus and return back to Highlands.
